I like to listen to music while editing, and just got a copy of the new Purity Ring album. If you like chill out electronic music, give this a listen:

Otherwise, what are you listening to?

Pandora's "Elvis Presley" channel.  (It boosts retail sales in my gallery... because my best customer demographic loves to hum along to Elvis, Johnny Cash, etc.)

I listen to music nine hours every day while at work.
Just picked up the following this moring:

Blackalicious - Melodica
Aesop Rock - Skelethon
The Gaslight Anthem - Handwritten
RJD2 - The Abandoned Lullaby Instrumentals
Oddisee - People Hear What They See

Every Tuesday is a music bonanza over here. Really love new release day.

For all the people around Toronto, have you heard of Holy Fuck or Tokyo Police Club? Both are pretty good.

I have heard of Tokyo Police Club but I haven't had a chance to listen to their music.

Might as well keep this going.
Just picked up Antony and the Johnsons new album Cut The World. That guys voice won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it's worth an initial listen.

If I list every time I pick up a new CD or vinyl, this thread is going to get long real fast.

Venser, do you work in the music industry?  What else would have you listening to new music 9h a day?!?!

Here is another from me, and its more downtempo, ambient electronic music:

Puff Dragon - Chinese Radio (Beijing Taxi Version)

I'm a quant on the trading floor of BMO. I write the math models and maintain the framework for the traders. So while I'm programming, which is typically all day, I have tunes going. There's so much noise on the trading floor, that if I don't have something to tune them out, I'm really unproductive.

Nothing worthwhile came out yesterday.
Curious to check out Dead Can Dance only because I know nothing about them. Forgot to do that last night.

Anyone who likes Arcade Fire should check out Of Monsters And Men. It's now my most listened to album at home.

edit - Just checked out Dead Can Dance and glad I didn't hastily buy the CD in hopes for the best. I think it's terrible.

Alright, if people think I'm posting way too much to this thread, let me know. There's never a week I don't buy a CD or LP, it just doesn't happen.

Anyways, picked up Mastodon's The Hunter this morning. It's a non-concept album, so delineates from their previous work, but it's solid. If you like their previous stuff, I would highly recommend this one also.

That's something I miss. Back in the day I would buy an entire album and listen to it. Artists would make deliberate choices about which songs to play in which order, and in many cases the songs blended from one to another. These days I usually just buy songs, opposed to albums. Sure I still listen to old albums I have, but not nearly enough.

I really like Of Monsters and Men as well. They remind me a lot of Mumford and Sons

Ughghg!
Just picked up Dan Mangan's EP Roboteering, but after I got home realized 3 of the 5 songs I already own since I have Nice, Nice, Very Nice by him also. In the end I could have wasted $2.50 on worse things.

The XX - Coexist.
I really like this album. There's a pretty elaborate story behind my liking it, best saved for another occasion.

For those interested, Feist just won the Polaris music award for her recent album Metals. It's a worthy purchase as it's quite good.
